OUR SERVICES

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE

Women's Health & Antenatal Checks

We provide antenatal care during your pregnancy. You’ll be offered a series of appointments with your chosen GP and nurse. Your doctor will check that you and your baby are well, give you useful information to help you have a healthy pregnancy (including healthy eating and exercise advice) and answer any questions you may have. We will keep your informed on any pre-natal workshops and information seminars.

Baby and Toddler Check-ups

We offer baby checks and immunisations at DMAHG. Our GP's and nurses can monitor your babies development and growth as well as administer all the required immunisations.

During your child’s development reviews, your child health nurse will ask you how your child is going and about any concerns you may have. If your baby was born prematurely, their developmental age will be calculated from your original due date, not from the actual date they were born.

Your baby will usually be weighed regularly between the ages of 1 month and 13 months and at the time of routine vaccinations. If there’s any concern about your baby’s weight, they may be weighed more often. In general, your baby should be weighed no more than once a month when they’re up to 6 months old, once every 2 months from 6 to 12 months, and once every 3 months when they’re over the age of one.

Mens Health Checks

Australian men are more likely to suffer serious health problems but are far less likely to visit the doctor. During your visit the doctor will do an overall check over discussing your medical history, family's history of disease and your lifestyle. Regular medical check-ups will help you to stay healthy and to pick up early warning signs of disease or illness.

Immunisation Clinics

We provide a range of vaccinations at our surgery for Adults and Children including general vaccines, travel vaccines, yellow fever as well as Q-fever.

Please discuss your vaccine needs with your doctor. If you previously started a vaccine course which you did not finish, you can have the missing dose or doses and you do not need to start the vaccine course again regardless of the time elapsed. Some medical risk factors may mean that a person needs to be immunised differently or immunisations are withheld for a period of time or even repeated following some medical treatment.

Travel vaccine advice should be obtained from your doctor. Combination vaccines protecting against two or three different diseases are often used. Having immunity to one disease in a combination vaccine does not mean you cannot be given the vaccine. It is not harmful to be vaccinated and may boost protection for that disease.

Onsite Imaging

Offering Doppler studies, x-rays and ultrasound.

A referral is required.

Skin checks and minor surgery

Saturday afternoons we run skin check clinics with experienced GPs who have

undergone special training. Using dermoscopic equipment the GP will assess

whether a suspicious lesion can be removed by a biopsy or liquid nitrogen

otherwise more complex lesions may be referred on to a specialist.

Medicals

Pre-Employment,CAT 1, 2, 3 Medicals

Our Pre-Employment medical examination provides a baseline health assessment for a worker before they enter a role with an employer. The examination assists with risk management and identifies whether a worker is medically suitable in the role in which they are applying. Upon booking you will be required to fill in a checklist which will indicate the tests required, please ensure this is filled correctly as our team will only do the tests that are ticked/noted.

Diabetes Asthma & Heart Disease Clinics

Coordinated Care Clinic:

The philosophy behind our clinic is to deliver improved and more comprehensive health care to you. Through this process we endeavour to reduce your waiting times, and free up some appointments to make your GP more available for acute issues. You will be generally asked to return for a review every 3-6 months depending on your needs.

The Coordinated clinic is for patients with any chronic or ongoing health conditions to receive regular and ongoing care to monitor their health, and prevent or minimise complications from developing. Each time you present at the clinic, you will be seen by the practice nurse and your regular GP. Your initial consultation will take about 45 minutes, and then usually each visit lasts about 30 minutes. All visits through the CC clinic are bulk billed to Medicare.

As part of the CC clinic we often put in place a management plan to work towards achieving your health goals. There are two kinds of management plans for patients with a chronic condition:

·         A GP Management Plan

·         A Team Care Arrangement

If you are eligible for a TCA, you should be eligible for some subsidised visits to Allied Health Professionals that would be beneficial to your overall health and well being.

This may include a physiotherapist, chiropractor, medical specialist, community nurse, home help service, occupational therapist, dietitian, exercise physiologist, diabetes and asthma educators, pharmacists, etc.

Health Assessments:

All Australians aged 75 and over and Aboriginal & Torres Strait

Islanders aged 55 and over are eligible. We bulk bill everyone,

pensioner or not for the service. Annual, voluntary health assessments

for older Australians provide an opportunity for your doctor to

undertake an in-depth assessment of your health. Health assessments

cover the patient’s medical, physical, psychological and social function.

These appointments generally take an hour to complete.

Onsite Pathology Services

Asthma is a long-term chronic disease. Over 2.5 million Australians have asthma, and this equates to approximately 1 in 10 people living with the disease.

General Practitioners play an important role in asthma management. Our doctors assess, diagnose, educate and medicate asthmatics. They also refer those with severe asthma to respiratory or allergy specialists.

Indigenous Health Care
